Future Dreams and Projects

Many members of our community have to support a family and are not able to attend school. Therefore, they often have no possibility to find a qualified job. Most of the imported goods come from D.R. Congo, where the goods are sold without taxes, which is illegal. When the police catch individuals, they are put in jail. Our mission is to support our community by teaching tailoring, handicrafts and agriculture. We are seeking funding to purchase animals and materials needed to start this new program.

In addition to education, we also want to implement community outreach programs, such as women's empowerment and agriculture outreach programs. Future projects such as "independent economic workshops" are planned to empower women in our community. A tailoring program was started by Emmanuel in the past, but unfortunately it had to be discontinued for financial reasons.

Women empowerment project

In this project, we empower women by teaching them handicrafts, such as tailoring and selling baskets, shoulder bags, clothing and wax prints, so they can earn a living and can send their children to school.

This is Albertine. Emmanuel met her by sponsoring her child. She had only one room, which was not enough despite the sponsorship support, and she went to D.R. Congo to earn money. Thanks to the donation of a sewing machine and some fabrics, Emmanuel came up with the idea of opening a bag store. He supported Albertine in opening the store, and luckily Pamela, his close friend, taught her how to make bags. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and financial circumstances, the program had to be stopped, but we would like to start it again as soon as possible.

Farming project

In order to provide the families of Burima village and the community with another source of income, we would like to expand pig breeding in the village. Pigs do not require expensive care and are easy to handle. Each female pig can give birth to 4-10 piglets at least twice a year. We intend to sell these piglets when they are old enough.

You can give vulnerable families a chance to have a better life by donating a pig or a piglet to families in our community:

Price of one female pig: appr. 80.000 RWF

Price of a piglet: appr. 30.000 RWF
